Hulder

I'm pretty proud of how this one came out.

For those who don't know what 'hulder' means, well, I can't claim to know exactly totally completely what it means. A 'wood nymph' like the one illustrated here is a hulder, but in general you call them the huldrefolk. The basic of it is that the huldrefolk are faerie-like beings who live in the woods, and they have cow's tails. They're always female (as far as my wife knows), and they seem to make an habit of luring mortal men into marriage.

I was about to draw a faerie one day, and just as I was working on her head, it popped in my mind that she wasn't a faerie, but a hulder. Don't ask me how I knew, I just did. There was no way I could give that girl a faerie body, she would just not accept it - she was a hulder, and I just had to live with it.

I gave in, and I drew her. I think she looks quite nice.
