Thoth

Another unplanned work where the imagery suprised me and clambered out of the paint. The original is sold to German collectors. It has subsequently been published on the front cover of the Chilean magazine "Artefacto" http://lacasatomada.webcindario.com/centro.htm and also in full colour on the inside cover of "Angel Circus" magazine, Australia http://www.angelcircus.com/viewforum.php?f=3&sid=8eaa01f8ba318a858138cf8b9b56e135 (c)Leo Plaw - http://www.guildmedia.net/leo

very interesting work here Leo. Glad to see your work in this archive. The golden hues work well together. I am curious what this painting means to you, decypher the anamorphic forms and tell us what its all about.

Artist Reply: The central figure, Thoth was the Egyptian Ibis headed god of, science, writing, culture, technology, and civilization. The Egyptians credited him with bringing civilization to them. To the Greeks, he was Hermes, to the Romans, Mercury. So here in this painting Thoth is bringing the light of civilization to a chaotic world. The two shrouded figures to the right represent the hidden potential of human beings that can be revealed with education. That is of mundane and spiritual life.
