Night Train To Edinborough

This painting is an 18"x24" watercolor, and is a fantasy scene that I used to create prior to my focusing exclusively on factually accurate historical city scenes. I got the idea watching the 1985 mini-series Yanks on PBS. I expanded on a remembered image of a farewell scene at a train station.

I am astounded at your intricate detail... something I admire and appreciate so much, that would drive me crazy trying to do... isn't it wonderful that we all have different strengths, abilities and focus... it makes art so fun :)

How can I buy a mural of this picture?

Artist Reply: My work was being made into murals by Environmental Graphics/Murals Your Way. They still may be carrying my images. Please e-mail me at [email protected] so I can send you further information of how to go about getting the mural you are seeking. If they are not handling my work let me know. They will do custom murals, and maybe we can get it done that way some how.

Such wonderful art you have created. I love the mood, the detail, the light. Thought provoking too! Why is that man walking on the track?

Artist Reply: Thank you for the compliments. This is one of my favorite paintings. I painted it about two or three years of painting. I wasn't into extreme historical accuracy yet. The man on the tracks was there to begin his inspection of the engine. The principal objective of the engineer was to make sure the engine was properly lubricated. The other was compositional. The painting is a little too heavily weighted to the viewers left side. The man helps to smooth the transition to the right side of the painting and to the activity in the distance.

Incredible detail, as always a true work of art.

Artist Reply: Thank you for the comment. Hope everything is going well. I am finally getting back to feeling better since my third spinal surgery. I now have a bionic back. It has been strange to stand for extended periods of time without pain. My balance is still bad. I am working on a painting of San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf in 1941.
