Megara (also known as Meg) is a Greek woman working for Hades, and the love interest of Hercules. Sometime prior to the events of Hercules, Megara went to Hades to revive a lover of hers (revealed in the series to be Adonis) who had died. Hades agreed on the condition that she serve him forever, which she accepted. However, after Adonis was revived, he fell in love with someone else and left Meg. This (and other experiences with men) led Meg to swear off any more relationships. Just before the events of the film, she is ordered by Hades to try and persuade the river god Nessus to join Hades' army, in exchange for two years off her sentence. Despite her cynical personality originally, Meg is shown to have a selflessness. She offered her service to Hades to save her boyfriend, and threw Hercules out of the way of a falling pillar, being crushed by it herself. DISNEY (c)
