This is a rendition of the Whaleship "Wanderer" as she breaks through a land based fog bank. She is headed out to sea, for yet another 3-1/2 year voyage collecting whale oil and ivory, in the Mid-Eighteen Hundreds. One of the last great sail powered whalers to originate from New Bedford, Ma., U.S.A.

Very nice work Dr. Painting the rigging is challenging, and I am at the stage I can do them without reference although never been on a ship. Once you understand what the function of them is it speeds up the process.Anonymous Guest 12 Feb 2011
Thank you for your comment on "Aneroid". I painted all the whaling ships out of New Bedford, Ma. I have an old b&w book of whaling ship photos. My painting was of the stern going out.DEE JOBES PHOTOGRAPHY 06 Mar 2010
