ARTIST’S STATEMENT: I am a local artist living in the Village of Lakewood. I have a BFA from The University of Iowa where I originally majored in Pottery, Painting, and Metalsmithing. After school I took time off from creating artwork and created a family instead. Now that my kids have left the nest, I have returned to creating beautiful paintings and prints for the public to enjoy. My paintings are representational. I like my pieces to reflect life and to give the feeling of action and movement. I express that with fast brushstrokes and vivid lines. I believe a painting has to make sense to the eye, whether it is abstract or not, It has to be believable. To that end I strive to create something that will not only be fun to look at, but will also make the viewer really see.
