The first few snows that hit the high country leave a dotted pattern upon the rocks and frozen ground. Ice begins to form along the edges of the lake. The autumn leaves stalwartly decorate the landscape as they wait for the inevitable. The combination of vivid color and the cold wax blended with oils gives this post-impressionist landscape a thick rich texture which helps to emphasize the season, and titillates the visceral senses.
