Karos

As the capitol of the Dro'Xaren Ephex and home of the great Dromi of the xaersi people, Karos is a majestic, glorious, and proud city, everything well-kept and nice to reflect the benevolence of their Dromi. Karos Palace, the Dromi's home, sits near the center of the city, near the peak of the dormant volcano the city is built around. Karos stretches down the slope of the mountain, reaching all the way to the distant coast many miles distant. The wide-based xaersi structures stand straight and tall but seem as sturdy as any ever made, representing the warrior race that built them well. And above the labyrinth of the Karos streets lined with waving banners and thin needle-towers rolls the cloud-streaked sky that seems always on the verge of sunset, and painted with a dynamic mix of warm colors. One spot in the city is considered something of a pilgrimage site for xaersi, the quarter-mile crater left barren by the Fire of Xarsil over a hundred years ago. The day that killed over three million xaersi and drathonian civilians is a day of mourning for all of the Dro'Xaren Ephex, but especially in the capitol, when the Dromi himself visits the spot and shows his compassion for those who died in the Fire. In the foreground are Dromi Ahreis Khral and his blademaiden, Dalia Knar, two of the most important citizens of Karos in my story.
