Priestess of Quetzalcoatl

I've been planning this one since my trip to Mexico last fall. I have always loved Mayan and Aztec history, so this was a fun piece to do - a somber priestess of Quetzalcoatl - the magnificent dragon or "plumed serpent" from the early Meso-American cultures. Behind her you can see a golden Aztec/Mayan Calendar. There is an insane amount of detail in this painting. 16"x20" acrylic painting on canvas. © 2007 by Jasmine Becket-Griffith. All rights reserved.
