Taken back in 2006 at North Lakes Park in Denton, Texas, this photo was reworked and renamed for "reposting". If I needed a reason to do so, it is because I have never seen a gathering of this variety of birds (Great Blue Heron, Chinese Geese, two breeds of ducks) so close in proximity since the original sighting nearly two years ago. There's also the fact that there are no longer water lotus growing in this lake. I wonder if it has anything to do with the water pumped out to use at a natural gas drilling sight about a half mile away, then replaced some weeks later with "dechlorinated" city water. That's what I was told by the man working with the refill tanker. All I know is that the lake is now totally devoid of lotus, an important part of the former wetlands habitat.
