One hundred percent "askal" (mongrel - lit. "street dog"!) This is my good friend Scruffy, one of the dogs on a farm where I sometimes stay in Mindanao, in the Southern part of the Philippines. Scruffy askal he may well be, but he's such a lovely dog! Having spent 99.9 percent of his life tied up on a short piece of string, he was made-up with me taking him for walks all around the rice fields! (Hence the look of sheer anticipation on his face in this painting; which was based on one of my photographs.) Rembrandt, Schmincke and Unison pastels on Dominion St. Armand 100% flax, hand-made watercolor paper. 29" x 21" (73cm x 53cm)
