The work embodies a circular message of penance, awareness, and retribution: nobody is really trapped, and nobody is bigger than life. An observing power may enslave the accursed; a higher order may await answers from the arrogant. Philosophy is trapped within philosophy, here, expressed through thick impasto, rich color, a tight composition, and a dry handling of paint, however arranged to achieve a stage-like performance.
