The Tubist and the Cellist (Diptych)

This Diptych is part of my series
"The Music Man"
Picture 1: The Tubist
Picture 2: The Cellist

As a music- and art teacher (I played the cello for years) I enjoy to incorporate music in my art work.

The sousaphone is designed that it fits around the body of the tubist and is supported by the left shoulder, the sousaphone may be readily played while being carried. The Tuba 's shape always fascinated me.
The tubing is coiled in an oblong shape, and the bell points upward or forward.

What has the tuba in common with the cello?
Like other tubas, sousaphones, cello's and basses generally have parts written in the bass clef.

The violoncello; also known as the 'cello' is a very expressive instrument.
Yo-Yo Ma plays The Swan by Camille Saint-Saens (1835-1921) from "Carnival of the Animals"

The lushly movement is warm, romantic and expressive, evoking the gliding grace of a contemplative swimming swan.
