Newbie!

Hello all! My name is Carleyrae Weber. I am a Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design Alum (2007), currently living and working in Macerata, Italy. I just joined ArtWanted.com, so feel free to take a look at my portfolio, and maybe give me some feedback...? constructive criticism is welcomed and encouraged! (dont worry, i can take it! :)

statement: My ideas come from a combination of intuition and assimilation. I am interested in artists like Cy Twombly, Gustav Klimt and Fred Stonehouse, though most of my influence can be found in my ordinary surroundings... sillhouettes and colors found in fabric, geometry in graphic design, the decadence of urban settings, and the natural decay and restoration of architecture and art.

My latest work depicts a fictional place, a kind of skewed version of the world I am living in. A world occupied by humor, cynicism, adventure, fear, and silence. The images in my paintings are vague and candid, like that of a memory; each piece being congruent to the next, with an illegible story that connects them. Images of birds, rain, electrical wires, dirt, water, boats, serve as souvenirs from this world in an unfamiliar place.
