I was born and raised in Indiana, and got my bachelors from Indiana University majoring in marketing. Though I have always had a desire to create, I really began painting thirty years ago. I was looking for an inexpensive home warming gift for a friend because I was young and broke, and I chose to reproduce a scene from a greeting card that I thought was pretty into a framed poster…..with poster paints, no less. And that started the whole love of painting. The time I could devote to painting has varied over the years, but I painted when I could and set up my web site (paintingsbydeb.com) 15 years ago. Over the years, I have lived in several different areas of the country (eight different states) and this has exposed me to a wide array of architecture and topography; I've done everything from beach scenes and cityscapes to Southwestern adobe and desert. I work from photos, using several shots of varying perspectives for each scene, allowing myself many choices of how to approach each project. I paint where I have been, what I have seen, where I have lived. I paint for the pure enjoyment of it: it feeds my spirit and my soul.
