Press Clipping LAGUNA BEACH, California -- Recent oil paintings by one of mainland China's most exciting young artists, Wang Aitang, will be the subject of a, one-woman show at Contemporary Chinese Fine Art, located at 1099 South Coast Highway, Laguna Beach, California, on the corner of Oak nd South Coast Hghway. An opening reception will be held on November 12th from 6-9pm at the gallery. Please contact the gallery for your personal invitation to this event. Ms. Aiting will be here visiting the United States from the 12th through the 26th of November and will be in attendance at the show,to greet her followers and collectors.

Considered one of China's most influential young female artists, Wang deftly combines essential elements of impressionism -- especially its ephemeral play of light and dedication to images of contemporary life -- with the dynamic emotionality of expressionism in her highly gestural paintings on canvas.

While her well-crafted imagery of tranquil interiors and still lifes may be influenced by European stylistics to which she has been exposed, Wang Aiting's work, executed in a combination of soft pastel and more intensely hued palettes, is thoroughly Asian in spirit. Her dreamlike still lifes feature bowls of lotus pods, sprays of bok choy and other exotic fruits and vegetables indigenous to her country. Traditional Chinese calligraphic ink-and-brush sets act as foregrounds for exuberant floral arrangements; time-honored teapots with delicate teacups appear continually in her work. Wang's spare interiors of quiet rooms are punctuated by Oriental architectural elements or gauzy, contemplative figures of Asian women.

Born in Beijing, the 33-year-old painter is a cultural product of an impressive painting renaissance in Mainland China that has flowered following the death of Mao Zedong and the country's more open exchange with the West. Since 1995, the work of Wang Aiting has been exhibited in important group shows in Beijing and Shanghai galleries, including the Modern Fine Art Gallery, the International Yiyuan Fine Art Gallery and the 2003 Shanghai Art Salon Exhibition. Her paintings have also been the subject of two solo 2003 exhibitions at Beijing Mainland Artists Gallery and Beijing's Yanhuang Art Gallery.
