Self Portrait

I was inspired to create works of art because I saw so much beauty in the world and so much violence and suffering. I experienced I wanted to capture it and express it using my own perspective. I took art classes in my Jr. and Sr. years of high school and wished that I could paint and draw all day and night. I began to see how through the toughest times in my life I could use art as a healing tool to help me survive. When I attended classes at American River College I had taken a beginner and advanced figure drawing class, basic drawing class, Renaissance art,and an oil painting class. When I had to quit college and go to work full- time I still found time to paint or draw. I felt it was much more liberating to create art without it being a class assignment. I felt so free when I had no restrictions and just created art as a stress reliever. When I began making dolls it was a whole new way of expressing my self. As a kid I liked to braid dolls hair, give them haircuts, and make them clothes from scrap of my old clothing. I have no idea why I never stayed with it. Not until my son asked to make him a bat doll did I really start to get more interested in the form of expression once again. I have over 50 different dolls that I have been making. I have sold 3 dolls and I am always happy to hear how happy my clients are when the receive their doll. I have sold 4 paintings to clients that have been nothing but encouraging of my passion for creating. I hope you enjoy my art as much as I do! Regards, Trina
