Focusing on the formal elements such as shape, pattern & structure the paintings are usually developed from line drawings, though ideas can come from anywhere. Drawing in its different forms has been important in learning to respond, select and 'design' and this has led to an element of abstraction in the work. Graduated (with distinction) having specialized in painting, typically creating anything from small oil sketches up to 6ft canvases; studied Environmental Design which involved creating large sale canvases for specific locations, the largest being 16ft long. Worked as an illustrator and designer for two giftware companies, a decorated tile manufacturer, and for many years designed and created artwork for a local advertising agency. In terms of portraiture, produced many on-the-spot portraits at various events for countless satisfied customers, largely round the south of England, but also in Australia. Now working as a figurative/semi-abstract artist based in Poole, Dorset.
