Artist Bio

Employing a deft hand with collage, painting, illustration and print transfer processes, Danny O's original and distinctive style reflects his resourceful nature. Vintage record albums and book covers serve as his canvas, as he paints with layers of cut magazine paper, paint and acrylic medium polishing the color with sandpaper, all the while mimicking the age and patina of the artist's signature hand-made salvaged frames. His prolific output is joyful to the eye, combining a modern aesthetic with American nostalgia, creating whimsical pieces that reflect the beauty in everyday life.

A hybrid between a fine and commercial artist, Danny O has exhibited widely and his images licensed extensively. His work has been featured in group exhibitions at MassMOCA, the DeCordova Museum and the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art. He has had solo and group exhibitions in galleries in Boston and New York and is the driving force behind 100 Hours in the Woodshed, a bi-annual January gathering of over 20 artists making art and living together, culminating in a group exhibition at Gallery 51 in North Adams, Massachusetts. His work is available in retail and specialty stores across the country, his images appearing on dessert plates, calendars, posters, a children's scrapbooking line and t-shirts.

A native of Lexington, Massachusetts, Danny served in the U.S. Navy, first as a photographer's mate and then as a Navy artist after high school. He then pursued his education at Cooper Union School of Fine Art in New York City. Danny currently resides in North Hampton, New Hampshire with his wife Jennifer, and their newborn daughter, Riley.
