Theo Forrer was born in Batavia (Indonesia) in 1923. During the war he was a prisoner-of-war and was forced to build the Burma-railway and afterwards to work in the coalmines near Nagasaki (Japan). After the war he came to the Netherlands, where he became a well-known artist. He had exhibitions in the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem. The last 30 year he didn't want to have exhibitions, but only continued painting and drawing.
