Fighter

When I was a kid, the only pets my mother would let me have were fish... and they had to be hardy, cold water fish. Which gave me the choice between goldfish and the Japanese fighting fish. Guess which one I chose? Of course, after I'd finished sketching him out and coloring him, it hit me. "Dammit... I should have drawn him attacking his own reflection!" Ah well... next time.

Wow, when I go to work tomarrow (a fish store), not sure I can look at those bettas the same way. lol. I think it is an interesting interpertation of a betta splendon, and rather good. :D I've been wanting to do a betta drawing forever and send it to a show...I have a sailor moon betta and a girl betta stashed somewhere, maybe I'll dig them out and finish them ;) I think you can enter this into a show with the IBC, just go to ibcbettas.org to register with the IBC.

I love your story! this is a great drawing with intense and tender emotion. Not only the colors and forms are beautiful but, the very thoughts behind it! I love fish too. I would pretend I was one as I swam all day in the summer lake. But enough of my tall tails, LOL! and to your next Great Painting or drawing... the one of your fish attacking his own reflection! I think you have the most inspiring image waiting to take the world by a storm of love and insight. I know it will be a hit! I don't know what size this one is but, perhaps your new one should be at least 2ft. by 3ft. Sorry!!! I got so carried away. I just think it will be a fabulous commentary on the nature of all spirits...the fight within...Have a wonderful holiday season Jeanette. It was interesting to view your work. Cheers CB
