The Osprey's wingspan is an impressive 160cm. Osprey eat fish, they are superb fishermen, hovering over the water, eyeing the depths, once the fish is spotted they dive feet first, talons extended, capturing its feast, emerges from the water, once in flight, the will always turn the fish around so the head is facing forwards. Osprey came close to extinction during the 50's and 60's with the use of pesticides. Since the banning of DDT, these beautiful birds have been making a fantastic comeback, even renesting in places where they were thought to be long gone from. Taken at Como Lake, Port Coquitlam, B.C.
