Sugar Britches Twins

Hand made baby dolls done from Sugar Britches reproduction mold. I did one awake and one sleeping, to represent my twin daughters, who are grown with children of their own now.

Oh My! These baby dolls are so adorably realistic!!

Artist Reply: Thank you, Vernonette. I had a lot of fun making and dressing the porcelain dolls. These 2 have porcelain heads and hands, and muslin weighted bodies.

They are so lovely! Are you still making them, Joan?

Artist Reply: Thank you, Anneke. I do not make the porcelain dolls anymore. I was making them with a friend who had a kiln. She is no longer able to do them and with my health issues, I couldn`t do the pouring. I made around 22 porcelain dolls in all. Thank you for looking.

Beautiful! I love dolls and have a large collection!

Artist Reply: Hi Joan, thank you for your comment. I also have a large collection of dolls, I started collecting them before I started making them.

This is so so beautiful! I wish that I can do something like that. How do you create hair for dolls? So beautiful!

Artist Reply: Hello, Valeka, I am sorry I did not see your comment before now. The dolls are done with reproduction molds, and they have weighted cloth bodies, with porcelain heads and hands. These dolls have high quality wigs, and the awake baby has "real eyes" which are glass with an acrylic coating that makes them appear wet, as a real eye is. Thank you for your kind comment.

so sweet :) I collect or used to collect porcelain dolls i love them i have a couple from Seymour :)

Artist Reply: Thank you very much, Katerina. I started out collecting them and ended up finding a lady who lived close to me who had doll making clases. I ended up making 21 dolls with her, and we are still good friends, although we don`t do the dolls any more. She is retired from her classes, and I have been concentrating more on oil painting lately.
