Trail Of Tears

I choose to label this as a surreal piece since surreal always appeared to be an abstract work that displays a certain message. In this quick piece done in photoshop, I created a broken dream catcher that represents broken dreams. The turtle in the middle represents the turtle symbol of the Cherokee indians. The feathers took me awhile, they represent hope. In the background are the lyrics to the song, "Indian Resorvation" and the painting of the trail of tears that looks so much like a photo graph was done by Robert Lindneux. Here are the lyrics: They took the whole Cherokee Nation Put us on this reservation Took away our ways of life The tomahawk and the bow and knife Took away our native tongue And taught their English to our young And all the beads we made by hand Are nowadays made in Japan Cherokee people, Cherokee tribe So proud to live, so proud to die They took the whole Indian Nation Locked us on this reservation Though I wear a shirt and tie I'm still part red man deep inside Cherokee people, Cherokee tribe So proud to live, so proud to die But maybe someday when they've learned Cherokee Nation will return Will return... Will return... Will return... Will return... Dream Catcher, Turtle, feathers, and compileing of this piece: Lauren Maxwell. Concept: My Dad

This is so beautiful, so sad, and so full of an inspirational hope at the same time when I see this... I love your recent work (your older works too^^) But this one is just.. very inspiring. You can definetly see how far you've grown and developed with your natural talent in art too, great job!^^ This is perfect.
