This portrait of Ben Franklin appears on a 100 dollar bill. Of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence he was the only really “old guy” at around 70. Our founding fathers knew that each one had more to lose than to gain (personally) from a colonial revolution. Ben made small but important “changes” to the Declaration Draft that Jefferson had sent to him. When John Hancock (at the signing) commented that they must now all hang together - Ben replied, “yes we must or we'll all hang separately.”
