This painting shows a young Masai girl milking a goat. The job of milking cows and goats is for women in the masai community. Masai is a tribe found in East Africa, mainly in Tanzania and Kenya. They are pastoral and are famous for their primitive way of living. At her back is are the family huts. Her milk container is known as African calabash.
