One of the last pieces from the previous year. Another gel pen with color pencil drawing on medium bond acid-free paper. Original Jones Art, still semi-figurative and always thinking, in northwest Austin, Texas.

My preference would be never do the same thing the same way. When I did commercial art it was required. Now that I'm doing fine art I get to do it my way. Woodson's work from the 50's had characters that had similar features. He never got any recognition for his work. I hope you do.

Artist Reply: Well, I'm not an illustrator per se, Stanley. And I'm not looking for some 11th hour reprieve from obscurity. I'm reminded of a song made famous by Frank Sinatra. I'll bet you are happier doing things for yourself than for others, my friend. Money and fame are such corrupting elements. Hope you are doing and feeling well today. It's warmer here in Central Texas and I hope it continues to be. Take care. :)
