This large painting on canvas was inspired by a visit to Wogans Cavern at Pembroke Castle in Pembrokeshire. The vast and incredibly atmospheric space, with its history, unique noises, smells and textured walls really made an impression with the whole family. Here I have tried to recapture some of its atmosphere with the wet reflective ground, bleached out figures from the harsh backlite sunlight and thick textured paint used to represent the walls in the shadows.
