I paint boldness, perseverance, exhilaration and spirituality within my work, depending on the thought process. Working with acrylics allows me an immediacy and ability to adjust the emotions of the painting; to shape color and line into forms that overlap, fade, burst and move with a purpose. Beautiful Sun blasted backdrops and vibrant color; spray painted onto weathered backdrops. Growing up in the city of Chicago, my daily commute was immersed with buildings and billboards filled with graffiti, art that wasn’t afraid, shy, and really didn’t give a damn. The process of using color and line as an expression of passion, personal identity, and beauty is the direction of the paintings; which is directly related to the graffiti I experienced as a young man.
