For most of my life I have had a love affair with colors and shapes and have used them to recreate the world around me in an abstract expression of my five senses. I have always drawn with pencils and inks and have worked in paints, clays and woods. However, in the past four years I have become more focused on digital illustration and stained glass design and creation. Digital illustration has given me an opportunity to express myself in more creative ways and to give deeper meaning to my self-expression. Digital work has also enabled me to create and bring to life my designs for stained glass panels and enhance my photographic work. I also use this media to illuminate much of my poetry. Digital illustration is a great tool that has made me an overall better artist no matter what media I choose to work in.
I am mainly a self-taught artist learning through observation, books and hands on experimentation. I have taken two pottery classes in hand building, one class in basic drawing, and one class in basic creative writing through the Green River Community College. I also attended an adult learning class in basic stained glass at Highline Community College. I taught myself the use of Adobe photo-shop and Jasc Paint Shop Pro though trial and error and am quite knowledgeable in digital photography.
