Skull/Charcoal/2006

This piece was done by toning an even dark gray background, then sculpting out the image using a white eraser. Finally, charcoal was added to darken the darkest areas.

Oh, I love skulls, and when I am teaching digital art, I encourage my students to incorporate them as often as possible!! Excellent job on this wonderful charcoal image Ari!! ~S

Artist Reply: Thank you. This one didn't photograph well, but I'm glad you like it. It was a fun piece to do. Ari

I love this method of charcoaling. A eraser does the trick. If you told this picture out side it comes out so much better. A flash cant compete.

Artist Reply: Thank you Charles. I appreciate the suggestion. Ultimately I would like to scan it, but I haven't had the time to scan it in parts and put it together in Photoshop.

Artist Reply: Thank you Donald. I wish the photo was better. It doesn't do the piece justice.
