Self Portrait

Denny Karchner’s “Western Artwork” was spawned from a deep passion for the love of a pencil and paint at a very young age. He has been producing “pencils” since the tender age of three-years-old and after a 34-year hiatus, has recently returned to paints. Here, you will find the newest in a series in oils, acrylics and pencils. These are Denny’s tightest and most intense works ever.”

Denny Karchner’s passion and love for “pencil and paints” are gaining him increased notoriety among museums and private collectors. Over the last few years, Denny has worked closely with the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody and has had art included in their Annual Art Auctions. In the Fall of 2005, Denny had two pieces accepted into the prestigious “Booth Western Art Museum” for their permanent private collection. Those pieces are “Horse Capture” and “Chief Tosh-A-Wah.”

Just recently, the family of the late, great Curt Gowdy commissioned Denny to paint his portrait. Lastly, Denny has been hired by the Rooney family, owners of the 2008 NFL Superbowl Champions Pittsburgh Steelers to paint many of the old Steelers from the 1970’s Super Bowl Teams, and lastly the “current” Pittsburgh Steelers. What an honor for a “Lifetime Fan” and former resident of “The Steel City.”

Since moving to the beautiful Lower Southfork, in Cody, Wyoming, Denny is now “living the dream” and concentrating heavily on his fine art career, painting the faces of the “old and new west.”

This collection is "WESTERN ART" of various "pencil" portraits of Native Americans, a few "familiar faces," and western still life. All pieces are "freehand" pencil drawings using mostly #6 and #8 German-made Faber-Castel Drawing pencils on Cresent Illustration boards. All pieces are scanned and color adjusted in PhotoShop7. All commissions are welcome.

BUFFALO GRAPHICS

Buffalo Graphics is devoted to my "graphic work" exclusively. All pieces of work were produced on a MAC or PC. The programs used to produce this art are CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator and mostly Adobe PhotoShop. Now a days I produce most of my work on a MAC Pro. Since 1975 I have worked for numerous large screen print companies producing “high-end” T-shirt art. I started with my own company in Central Pennsylvania, “Design To Print.” I have worked for companies like “Knights Apparel” in S.C. producing art for NCAA, NBA, NHL and the Dallas Cowboys. I have worked for “VF Imagewear”(Vanity Fair) in Tampa, FL producing T-shirt art for the likes of NASCAR, MLB, NFL and lastly, Harley-Davidson.

I now work for companies on a “freelance” basis. I find myself producing high-end T-shirt graphics for the Christian, Christian Bikers, Christian Rock, Postal workers, Firemen, EMS, Trucking and Hunting markets to name a few.

I would ask that you please take this link there to check my other work here on ArtWanted.
