Haven't done an oil painting in quite a while so I decided to try one. This is a self portrait on 12"x16" linen. I tried to use a complimentary color scheme, utilizing both cool greens and warm reds. Not sure if I succeeded in doing this but I consider it a practice study. I do think that some of the flesh tones I chose are a little strong so I know to tone them down a little in the future. I used a lot of greens in shadow areas like the facial hair, eyebrows, and shadow areas...and the background. Any critiques are appreciated by painters. I may re-photograph this when it dries...it was a pain with all of the glare from wet paint. Aside from the technical details, I had a lot of fun on this. I forgot how much I love painting. :) 12"x16" Oils on Belgian Linen A variety of brushes 15 hours

I am a fan of dramatic shading and bold shadows so I like the colors your chose for your face. You seem to do well with everything you decide to do. Look forward to seeing more.Terry Bullard 23 Aug 2011
Pretty cool, not really a painter so no critique, but looks good to me. :)
