After receiving over 2,000 hits last year I'd like to thank all of you who has taken the time to look at my work and send me messages of encouragement since I'v been on artwanted. I know I haven't been putting up anything lately but I've still been working :) You are my sunshine This is a self portrait of myself and my favorite little pal Rowen. I was excited when I was looking through my photos of summer vacation when I came across a moment like this. How can I forget a summer like that? I was surrounded by love and completely waterlogged. I was so inspired that I didn’t waste any precious time, I got started. The photo that this piece was inspired by was taken last summer in Northern Minnesota. When i was studying the photograph I was struck at how the sunlight was coming from behind us. The sunlight from behind created soft edges and some are lost in the light. Using a cobalt blue over all helped me focus more on tone than what color things were. Sea Salt on wet watercolor paint was used in areas in the background to give a different texture.
