Palo Verde

We had such a wonderful spring in Arizona this year, lots of rain. This produced an abundance of wildflowers. These trees are palo verde (green trunk in Spanish). The trunk contains chlorophyll and makes food for the plant. The beans, which are like garden peas but sweeter, can be eaten while green, but they are tedious to shell. © Pat Goltz. Thank you for the comments! I greatly appreciate them.
