Night-Blooming Cereus

This photo was taken in the yard of my friend, Harrison Yocum (whose portrait appears in my People gallery). I have a standing invitation to go over there and take pictures anytime I want, whether he is home or not. On this day, I was wandering through his yard, and noticed that the night-blooming cereus looked like it was going to bloom, so I told him and rushed home and got my flash attachment and my tripod. He helped me hold a flashlight for some of the pictures. This one was taken with my flash attachment. This was my first ever picture of a night-blooming cereus. The night-blooming cereus tends to bloom only one or two nights a summer (two occasions). The flower has a wonderful scent and is pollinated by a moth. © Pat Goltz Thank you for your comments. I greatly appreciate them!
