Flowers of the Day

Just a quick download of some of the flowers we found on last weeks trip to Sunrise. The first is such a delicate flower only 4 inches tall...BUT IT'S NOT IN MY LITTLE BOOK!! Nothing in the alpines grows much taller than this. There is no shelter and the growing season is so short. But nature still has a way of creating beauty all-be-it on a smaller scale.... The second picture is of Davidson's Penstemon...grows where few others dare to tread. As you see here...they like rock walls and gravel beds in full sun. Always a treat to see these bright splashes of color.
