Black and White Mushrooms

At some time in the past there was a forest fire in this area. This log was evidence of it, and made a great backdrop to these nice white mushrooms. We almost looked over the black ones below thinking they were elk droppings. I really did like the moss they were growing in.

Now you have me stumped, Mary! These must be shrooms of the pacific northwest area only. I can't identify them 'right off hand,' but am going to look them up. The photo is a really super one, m'dear!

The white mushrooms against the bark is a wonderful shot. Perfect display of the species! I can see why you overlooked the black mushrooms! They kind of gross me out... but it's a good shot of them.
