My intent for this piece was a sort of "Ghost of Christmas Past" feel - a memory. When I think of childhood Christmases, there is a sense of magic - something that transcends reality and casts a warm glow over the daunting truth of passing time. As a child, it seems the clarity is all in the tree and the bounty beneath - hence the color in the tree and toys in the drawing. The foggy shadows are reminiscent of distant memory. The children are in the same monochromatic tones to replicate their place in the fog. Despite the conflict of clarity vs memory, the overall piece emotes a sense of harmonious comfort.
