Alone

Midnight Dreamer Studio This is the second in the 'Can I Live Here Too' series...this is a bengal tiger cub....alone his parents poached for their skins he now has to find a way to survive....this is a sad story with no happy ending....the statistics for these beautiful and magestic beings are not so good and if we dont do anything soon they will be gone...one day the only place our children will be able to view a tiger is in a book....is this ok? do people not see a problem with this? As with every addition to this series 50% of all proceeds go to the Defenders of Wildlife...we cant sit back and watch these wonderful souls disappear....help me in the fight for their lives....spread the word, knowledge is power! "Can you look me in my eyes and still leave me cold and alone...." Photobucket

Steven Torrisi 30 Apr 2007

Face reminds me of the title of a 1973? film called Save the Tiger, which had nothing to do with the subject but the film ends with a scene shows someone making a pitch to the main character if he will make a contribution save the bengal tiger before it goes extinct. The fact that thirty five years later we are still asking that question shows our wisdom goes hand in hand with our ignorance.

Andy Housham 28 Apr 2007

Very cute.

Robin Brown 27 Apr 2007

We should be asking them how we can be forgiven Leah. Superb series of images keep them coming.

Charles Jones 04 Apr 2007

Hey, this is a cub---he's too young to shave yet. :)(Regarding lack of whiskers comment.) His expression is at once quizzical and apprehensive, as I would think I would be if the tables were turned. Nice feel here, Leah. Love the eyes, as always.

Anonymous Guest 04 Apr 2007

Thank you for the comment, Leah. ;D (but to tell you the truth I have aproved A LOT sense then... n___n; ) I love this one, I never really was all that good at putting every single detail in. :/

Looking at your tiger.... you have stamped your own style, wgich is good. I do love the eyes, they are alive, & that's important. If you'll allow me one negative point, your tiger needs a nice bunch of whiskers.... but really, an exciting image. Thanks for your kind comments on mine, as always. Great to see your own style.

ANA VALDEZ 03 Apr 2007

absolutely beautiful! love the softness of the piece. the subjects expression is priceless.

julie Marks 03 Apr 2007

Your drawing is beautiful. The expression in the tiger's face tells the story about how evil humans are to animals. I don't think people get how enormous this problem is with poachers show are motivated by greed and evil intentions, the destruction of wildlife in the rainforests, the senseless killing of wolves, wild horses, elephants and my list would fill the page with more animal species and then be flooded by tears. The cruelty to domestic animals is so painful to me along with anyone harming the helpless and innocent creatures who share our earth is so painful to me that words could never express how deeply I feel about this and how profound your words are in describing this word crisis. Your title, Can I live here too is great. The humane society is wording on the senseless killing or of beautiful wild horses form human consumption, mainly the mustangs. I wrote an editorial on this on one my horses in the series, trail of painted ponys, horse with mustang motor. You asked if I can look at those beautiful and innocent eyes.? NO, not without doing something about it. You are such a sweet heart to conribute money to charity. I have many charities to preserve wild life, rescue dogs, particularily greyhounds who after they are been used for racing are destroyed or put in pounds since human can no longer benefit fiancially. The whole issue makes me sick. We need people like you who have the wonderful talent to pull the heart strings of peopleso they will get off their asses and do something that affects everyone on our planet. The more harm we do to the the ecology of the earth, the more we damage our lives and most importantly the quality of lives for our chiildren. You are such a valiant soul. Keep up fabulous art and your critically essential message with your fantastic series!! i Love It!!

Artist Reply: Julie I am speechless, your words are so true, what humans are doing to everything around us is almost too much for the soul to handle...there desperately needs to be more people who are like you my dear friend....what are we going to do when everything is gone......

Kim Barker 03 Apr 2007

debbie braswell 02 Apr 2007

AGAIN YOU ARE SOO RIGHT LEAH KEEP UP THE GREAT ART AND WORK

Tom Berry 02 Apr 2007

The expression is so fitting. We are part of the food chain but we prevail to destroy the animals and the beauty.

Artist Reply: yes a food chain is understandable, but what we are doing to everything around us is just plain selfish stupidity....Thank you for taking a minute to look at my work, it means a lot to me :)

Wayne Hingley 02 Apr 2007

Great shading Leah. It's a scary thought, the chance of extinction for so many creatures. It's not always the cute, cuddly, large eyed ones that are about to go, but they are the ones that bring in the recognition.

Artist Reply: Wayne thank you for taking a look and commenting on my newest piece, I decided to go for the baby tiger because no one ever thinks about the babies that get left behind when their parents are murdered....Thank you again my friend :)

Bindu 02 Apr 2007

Although it shows that you drew this on april fools day, there is no joking around with the seriousness of the image you have created. your work is beautiful!
