Brocken Spectre on Matterhorn (North view)

Soft pastel on Murillo black cardboard. The Brocken Spectre is a kind of apparition, that appears when a low sun is behind a climber who is looking downwards into mist from a ridge or peak. The "spectre" is the shadowy figure - the glow and rings are of course a glory centered directly opposite the sun at the antisolar point.

This is one excellent fine art piece, with a great perspective that only climbers get to see. Fantastic work, Susanna.

intresting work, nice done!

Artist Reply: Thank You, I loved this severe and hard view, but people usually can't recognize that mountain as Matterhorn...But is Him, really! I knew this paint could be an hazard, actually...:)
