Alamo Courtyard

Greetings Friends, welcome to Texas or the Alamo. People in Texas always remind me to remember the Alamo or Yellow Rose of Texas! I guess warning me of the brutal heat slipped their minds? It is hot in Texas 8-9 months a year and many people consider that good weather. They also think this state is the best in the Union, go figure!***** The Alamo is a military compound or most likely an old mission house. It is located near downtown San Antonio and is surrounded with a solid stone wall that stands about ten feet tall. This walkway leads to the southern side or wall of the Alamo. Today, there are around five buildings within those stone walls that surround the Alamo. They talk about changes that took place throughout history to the surroundings therefore some things might varry.***** Both sides and the back have old oak trees, pretty flowers, paths, bushes and a lovely green lawn. The famious shaped Alamo front faces a river and downtown district all within walking distance. The Alamo and Riverfront walk certainly represents the most visited tourist highlights of San Antonio.***** Another feature of San Antonio is their basketball team, the Spurs that came in first place again last year. A Spanish flair or style is seen much throughout that area plus lots of Mexican people and food! So if a hot day in the sun, Mexican food and song is your thing this is the place.***** I have moved many times throughout my life and thought some might love this area or style. Cheers, Jerry Stith

Some Texas friends of mine suggest you smile when addressing the Republic of Texas - They tell me when Texas leaves the Union and returns to its legally constituted republic that it will be the third most powerful nation in the world and be the major technology manufacturer as well - now that's loyalty - not as hot as back home though - cool pics and travelogue Jerry ~:0)

Being a Texan, Jerry, I can say it IS hot a lot of the year---and I'd rather it wasn't. We aren't having a winter this year, so SUMMER will be here before you can spit twice. Great pics and nice intro to the place, too. The Alamo is an old Spanish mission that just happened to be used as a fort by some rebellious Texians and, yes, the Riverwalk is a great place for food and music. :)

Again you have me at a disadvantage. I know very little of photography. I know you can do some wonderful things with lens and settings. If this is set in Texas on a hot day, it looks like the ideal cool place to find.

There is something nice about the Alamo. It is within walking distance of the Riverfront, which is charming, but lacks the historical context. San Antonia is a wonderful town, well worth a visit.
