Ruth lived next door. In her late 80s, she took the greatest joy in walking among her roses. They seemed to bloom without anyone's tending to them and bloomed just for her pleasure. I, too, derived great aesthetic pleasure from Ruth's gift of beauty. Copyright 2007 Dell Belew
