The piece is composed of carved clay, wood fired then mounted on a scorched wood backing. The subject is the tsunami disaster. My father is from Bali and his entire family lives there. He had just returened only two days before the disaster from visiting overseas when it occured. We were frantic to contact them and it took weeks, but my family was fortunate, very fortunate. Never can we forget the terrible beauty of the crashing waves.
