Mommy, I'm Cold

Before discovering I had any talent as a photographer, I always took photos of my family on various trips. I caught some precious moments and looking back, I can see that I have always had a photographer’s eye. Then it was primarily representational and as I moved into abstract photography, my images have evolved into a more painterly realm. This shot was taken in Hawaii on the Kona Coast, a wonderful family vacation for children analogous to exploring Tom Sawyer’s Island. Kevie is on the left, not a happy camper since standing for a photograph in a wet towel with his friend Jason was not his idea of fun. This was his first trip to Hawaii where we stayed at Kona Village, a place where young boys are free to do what boys do, free from the watchful eye of their parents. He swam, fished, searched for coconuts, played baseball in the afternoons and primarily enjoyed eating and buying goodies at the simple village store. It is sad that in today complex world, children do not have these experiences that we enjoyed in the age of innocence.
