The Ever-changing Earth

Our 1st official hike of the season was to the beautiful Snoquera Falls. My main concern of the day was that the snowmelt of the past very hot days would make it so that we couldn't cross the creek and be able to climb to the base of the falls...a very magical place. Seeing the creek flow thru the dirt parking lot confirmed my thoughts. "Oh well, at least the falls will be nice and full." The 2-mile trail was very enjoyable thru 2nd-growth trees and low underbrush with the occasional very large rock scattered across the forest floor. As we arrived at the last slope before our destination, we were stopped dead in our tracks!! Between us and the falls was a huge rockslide!! It took me a few minutes to absorb what I was looking at...then out came the camera. The slope that I posted yesterday was entirely covered with loose rock and soft soil from a recent rockslide. We attempted to cross it but quickly decided that it would be too dangerous. So much for worring about crossing a creek.... :)

I love how you shot it in a three point perspective--it really adds to the grandeur.
