Blue Jug

I have painted this jug before. It's a ceramic piece I paid $225 for. When I first painted it as part of a still life, I knew I wanted to paint it again by itself. Of course, no two paintings come out the same way. The jug in the first painting came out more controlled. This second one has the air of confusion about it. Perhaps it was the fact that my white paint had gotten to the point of gumminess where no amount of water or glaze will get it running again. Maybe it's personal inner turmoil. This jug seems more human, somewhat scared, as if it's trying to shrink into the background. The shadow in the back came out slightly darker than the original. I love all the meanings that can be put into this painting. Blue is the colour of depression. The jug is actually a torso, giving a double meaning to its objectness. Technically as a real jug, it is useless due to the glaze used.
