This is the backside of the Corral Pass Ridge. It doesn't get as much sun so there are still patches of snow in the shadows. The trail continues on past the mountain view, drops down into the valley below this rockface, then loops around and back up to the parking lot where we began. The total loop is almost 5 miles of steep trail...more than my knees want to handle. The meadow in the 2nd photo is much larger than this shows, with many little streams and ponds scattered throughout. These streams are fed by the large patches of snow that surround it....still snow on the trail. By mid-summer these will be mostly dried up and the many varieties of foliage (and mosquitos) will take over. Thank you so much for joining us on this short, but VERY enjoyable hike. Please don't be offended if I don't reply to your MUCH appreciated comments. It's because this summer is getting very busy. I'd rather be outside, than sitting at the computer. Then there is the wedding coming up.... :-)
