Harbor Springs From The Bluff ca. 1950

This is a painting is a 30x40 inch water color I completed in 1994. It shows the Great Lakes steamship the South American landing at the Municipal Dock in Harbor Springs Michigan in 1950 A number of excursion steamers that plied the Great lakes catering to the vacation and liesure trade that flourished in the last half of the 19th century and lasted through the first half of the 20th century. The South American and her sister ship the North American made frequent stops in Little Traverse Bay throughout the life of their service on the Lakes.
