The picture is called Captured – and represents a violated, oppressed woman with a deep inner conflict as she finds it difficult to handle and feels almost impossible to get out … I have tried to describe the woman’s feelings when making nightmarish figures – You can see the woman’s face with the gag and downcast gaze, trapped and guarded by serpents, menacing wall and the other characters. A lizard is about to get into the woman’s head but gets devoured by a hungry snake. Another snake guarding for example her tattered heart that bleeds of all the suffering she feels. However, one can see a little hope in the form of two little kinder fantasy birds in the upper edge of the image on the left side. I have been based on a true story about a woman living in captivity, where she repeated experience to be humiliated, raped and beaten by their abusers who monitors her every move. The woman has appealed for help but no, because her abuser has his like-minded people in police and judiciary. Instead risk her prison! She lives every day with the fear of beatings and death threats continue unless she submits to the men in which both her mind and body takes a beating from these torture experiences as …
